COURSE DESCRIPTION
Interior Design is all about space, form, lightening and design. This course aims at evolving creative solutions for assimilation of diverse elements of the interior such as furniture, lighting, shading and material. The study helps in creating synergies between the aspects of beauty and utility. They create functional and appealing spaces where people can live, work, and play; They study the theoretical principles of environmental and behavioural sciences, such as space and form, colour and light, sustainability, communication, codes and regulations, as well as business practices; They learn how art, architecture, design, and technology inform the interior design and learn how to collaborate effectively across disciplines; They develop design solutions that address the health, safety and welfare of the users of a space; They design the interior spaces of health care facilities, hotels, ferries, and ships, and other commercial industries; become a stage and set designer, a movie production designer, exhibit designer, project manager, or an interior architect.
Entry requirements
For entry onto Retail Management qualification, learners must possess:
- Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 3 Award/Qualification or high school qualification
- Mature learners (over 21) with management experience (learners must check with the delivery centre regarding this experience prior to registering for the programme)
- The learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course
- English requirement
Duration and delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only. The duration is 3 Months
Assessment and verification
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by ICON. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. The judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
